FinTrU is looking for a Project Manager to join our client delivery team. You will have the opportunity to work directly with a global Tier 1 Investment Bank and liaise with their senior stakeholders to bring solutions to a wide range of objectives including regulatory change, risk remediation or IT system delivery.

Suited to someone with proven project management experience ideally in a fast-paced financial services environment, with strong stakeholder management and relationship building abilities.

Role Responsibilities
  • Drive business outcomes via successful projects.
  • Plan, organise, coordinate, manage, control and lead complex projects, ensuring they are delivered to scope, on time and to budget, within required quality parameters, and in accordance with stakeholder expectations.
  • Projects range in scale, typically with team sizes between 10-50 people.
  • Adhere to FinTrU’s project methodology (TrUDelivery), developing professional project artefacts (e.g. RAID logs, RACI charts, project plans, status reports, etc.) as required throughout the project, ensuring all artefacts are stored centrally with suitable version control and sign-off.
  • Effectively engage and manage a wide range of global stakeholders at all levels, within the client and FinTrU, along with external third parties.
  • Create, manage and control suitably detailed project plans.
  • Manage and control project issues and risks.
  • Manage, motivate, lead and develop the project team, ensuring they have the skills and tooling necessary to achieve the project deliverables.
  • Communicate effectively across all stakeholders.
  • Produce actionable management information from diverse data sources, consolidating, analysing and reporting, as required.  This will typically require manipulating data via MS Excel and producing graphs and summary information in order to present status.
  • Develop, agree and adhere to a communication plan, taking into account the communication needs of all project stakeholders.
  • Develop and deliver professional and relevant updates via agreed governance forums (e.g. OpCo, SteerCo etc.), tailored to the needs of the audience.
  • Ensure project team is kept up to date as required and remains engaged and invested in the wider business goals of the project.
  • Ensure communication medium (e.g. written, presentation etc.) and communication tooling (e.g. PowerPoint, Excel, e-mail etc.) is suitable for the needs of the audience.
  • Contribute to the development of client contracts, producing pre-project budget estimates, timelines, assumptions, dependencies etc. Manage the engagement in accordance with contracted commitments, highlighting in advance any areas of concern or non-alignment.
  • Manage any required changes to scope, schedule or budget via an integrated change control process. Ensure this is done in a sensitive way with client stakeholders, taking into account the overall business objectives of the engagement.
  • Manage project commercials, ensuring internal systems and processes are adhered to facilitate invoicing etc. Ensure commercial objectives of the project are met, including margin and revenue objectives.
  • Contribute to usual internal management tasks, such as team reviews, continuous improvement initiatives, management reports etc.

Required Skills & Experience
  • Minimum six years’ experience working within financial services, working within a managed services or project delivery environment.
  • Previous experience of leading medium to large project(s) and teams.
  • Proven ability in planning, organising, monitoring and controlling projects to deliver success across schedule, budget, quality and scope.
  • Solid understanding of project management lifecycles and methods.
  • Whilst the candidate should be highly organised, process oriented, with good attention to detail, they should also able to step back from the detail to make sound common sense decisions. Very strong business and client stakeholder focus.
  • Advanced Microsoft Office suite skills (Excel, PowerPoint and MS Project.).
  • Ability to aggregate data and produce reliable MI and models for senior management.
  • Excellent stakeholder management skills, with ability to manage and coordinate various governance forums across diverse stakeholders.
  • Good understanding of the business domain (e.g. KYC, compliance, risk, legal etc.) related to the role (see role advertisement for more details).
  • Confident and assertive communicator, able to sell ideas, negotiate solutions and influence to ensure adoption of new methods.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to adapt to a changing environment, with a willingness to work flexibly to achieve project objectives
  • Self-motivated and capable of using initiative to drive progress.
  • Strong leadership skills, with ability to set a vision and to lead and motivate a team across various grades.
  • Commercial acumen, with ability to identify new business opportunities and to build and expand the project team as appropriate.

Desirable Skills & Experience
  • Formal project management qualification such as PMP or Prince2.
  • Experience in delivery of deadline driven regulatory change projects, risk remediation plans, system delivery roadmaps or operational excellence and continuous improvement.
