The rapid growth of FinTrU’s legal services business means a parallel need to invest in the product learning and development needs of the expanding legal team.

FinTrU is looking for an ambitious, highly skilled and experienced professional with proven industry experience in negotiating ISDA, GMRA, Commodities, Futures and other trading documentation.

The ISDA Learning & Development Specialist will be at Vice President/Senior Vice President level and may be located in either our Belfast or North West Offices.

FinTrU’s legal services business is primarily focused on supporting investment banks with their derivative sales and trading agreement needs. Supporting the learning and development needs of our staff will not only support the career development of our legal professionals but also enhance business efficiencies and support progress towards achieving FinTrU’s strategic objectives.​

FinTrU is looking for an ambitious, highly skilled and experienced professional with proven industry experience in negotiating ISDA, GMRA, Commodities, Futures and other trading documentation.

The ISDA Learning & Development Specialist will be at Vice President/Senior Vice President level and may be located in either our Belfast or North West Offices. The role reports directly to the General Counsel and will have considerable exposure to FinTrU’s senior management as well as to the Company’s wider L&D team.

Role Responsibilities
  • Create and implement an ISDA Negotiation Framework for FinTrU with a particular focus of development and upskilling our legal graduate and legal analyst populations.
  • Develop and deliver the Training Materials for each FinTrU Legal Academy.
  • Develop an annual Learning and Development Plan based on pipeline needs of FinTrU Legal and its clients, submitting the plan to the General Counsel for approval.
  • Play a vital role for new legal services employees, supporting them with key document negotiation skills throughout their probationary period through coaching, on the job learning and classroom learning.
  • Communicate with and support product leaders and managers about specific employee training needs, champion new methods of learning and share ideas to facilitate successful future trainings.
  • Keep up to date with all our current and potential future engagements and client needs and evolve and adapt the training needs accordingly.
  • Monitor and research the regulatory pipeline and support the legal services business development team.
  • Suggest best practice and areas for process improvement across the legal department and also within client’s policies/procedures.

The Ideal Candidate
  • Undergraduate degree in Law or related subject.
  • Subject matter expert with a minimum of seven years’ Industry experience in negotiating ISDA and/or related sales & trading documentation.
  • Experience of working with an investment bank, asset manager, stock exchange, clearing house or depositary (either in-house or through a third-party intermediary) with a deep understanding of these organisations and how they operate with respect to negotiating sales and trading documentation.
  • Working knowledge of the financial services industry, specifically with regards to the regulations affecting the derivatives market.

Desirable Experience
  • Prior learning & development experience.
  • Formal employee/people management experience is desirable.
  • Qualified Solicitor (or working towards a qualification).
